Nestled in the heart of the Sandfields mysterious one way system, cwtched up between the terraced homes in a small friendly unassuming street, you’ll find Spring Terrace Church. It’s been there since approx. 1870 (formerly known as St. Helen's Baptist Church), and has played a part in serving the local community spiritually and practically since the first stone was laid all those years ago. A good number of the congregation live in the Sandfields area and this desire to show the love of God through the servant example of Jesus Christ, is as present today as ever. Spring Terrace has been an Assemblies of God church since it was founded by Pastor Trevor Hewitt in the early fifties.
At Spring Terrace we love people and recognise the importance of family which means we want to help people develop authentic personal relationships with God and each other. In a world where there is so much anonymity and impersonality in the work place and everyday life, this is refreshing, encouraging and we believe life giving.
We love God’s family and see each person as of tremendous value to God and therefore to us too. We look to provide a ‘family feel’ and a safe and secure base for people to explore their relationship with God, as well as allowing people the opportunity to bless others and be blessed in return.
We don't see our gatherings as 'services' or 'solemn' anonymous meetings, but more like family 'get togethers' where we can build one another up whilst expressing our thanks to God through songs and praise, and hearing about His will for our lives though Bible teaching that is real and relevant to us today. We want to see all the family members growing to be the people God wants them to be and therefore as new family members become involved over time, we value participation above performance. We are not a talent competition or a 'polished performance' show.
We also recognise that our mission for this life is to bring the good news to others that God is making peace with the world through His risen Son, Jesus Christ and He is going to 'right all wrongs' and make all things new; and as we grow to trust this absolute truth we can also to learn to ‘live’ in the surety of it ourselves too.
