LYNCHY'S DREAM

Picture
A dream that could have been just a dream became a part of life for some amazing young people!

The dream started back in 2008 when one of the leaders of TRIBE “Lynchy” a lad who became a Christian just 3 years earlier wanted to see more of the world. He attended a huge Christian youth festival called Soul Survivor, which holds over 24k young people over three weeks, the summer before which helped dramatically to this dream! One of the evenings in the festival, a missionary spoke on “how God shows us the way when we commits all we have” and with this encouragement, some strong answers in prayer and the world with more to show, Lynchy started planning the trip to see it.

In August 2008 “Lynchy” set off on a mission trip to Zambia at the age of just 18. He went to help a church with an abundance of community help projects set up in any possibly way he could. He spent time building a Bible College to train church leaders to affect the surrounding areas, worked and supported programs for 2 orphanages the church have set up housing 10-15 children each, several community outreach activities to promote a “togetherness” feeling and helped with the youth work of the church and its activities day in day out for 7 months.

With the area the church is based being so poor called Chibolya, also known as “rotted things” a lot of the church work was focused to impact the community positively. They installed a fresh water pump inside the compound and set up a school in the church hall to provide free education and clean water to neighbors all around.. One evening Lynchy prayed about his future and after a time an image came to him of a school in the church grounds helping the community. With the excitement and picture fresh in his mind he went and found the church leader and explained what he’d seen. With
this the church leader led him over to the corner of the church compound and pulled back a load of overgrown bushes and weeds and revealed foundations, there lay foundations for the school just like the image. The church leader explained it’s their vision too and its one of the main reasons the church was set up where it is. Lynchy had never seen or heard any news about the idea of the school in the church grounds before so this moment was magical to him and the dream started there! Lynchy returned home to Swansea, inspired and considerably more experienced. In those early days after his return in 2009 he came to Spring Terrace Church through his connections with the young people there, and shared to the congregation his experiences and the dream he had. Many hearts were captivated that day.

2 years went by and the dream was still alive, but with a young man. Things had changed back in Swansea and Lynchy no longer had a solid church foundation to share his vision with, and with the pressures of life taking over, the reality of the dream seemed to be slipping away, but then with TRIBE becoming the youth group Spring Terrace Church in October 2011 things started to fire up again! With the church support and a firm footing for TRIBE
the fundraising began! Lynchy, the mission team of 11 individuals and all other friends and family helped raise over £1,500 to put the school foundations down, as well as the trip money to go out there and join in. The trip was a massive success, from making new connections and helping with more projects such as the disabled ministry (BETHESDA), Makalulu sports and community groups and youth camping trips. The main success point was the foundations going in, the dream being kept alive and with 11 others now with the same passion we look to 2014 for the next trip to put more into to school building!
